General Membership Meeting

November 16, 2013

  

The meeting was called to order by VP Terry, AE5RI at 0812 hours. The location is the Garden Park Hospital in Gulfport, MS.  

Terry led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance and the prayer.  

Charlie, WD5BJT, read the minutes of the October meeting. On a motion to accept the minutes as read by George, K5JZ, seconded by Bob, WB8BIE, brief discussion was held. The motion passed.  

Ray, WQ5L, presented the treasurers report. On a motion to accept the report by George, seconded by Bob, brief discussion was held. The motion passed.  

OLD BUSINESS:  

Terry gave a report on the DX dinner and the raffle ticket sales for the amplifier.  

Terry advised the group that the ranking for the DX Hawg contest would be posted on the clubs’ web site after the award ceremony.  

Terry announced the clubs’ Junque-in-da-trunk will be held immediately after the general membership meeting at the Hooterville Contest site.  

Mike, WM5DX, had nothing new to report on the Chandeleur Island operation due to the US Government’s shut down.  

Jeff, N9OKV, presented an update on the MESH network.  

Terry gave an update on the clubs’ effort in the CQWWSSB contest.  

Ray gave a report on the combined club field day operation.  

NEW BUSINESS:  

Jeff reported the county EOC needs help of various sorts. He also challenged all of the clubs on the coast to get back on track with the goals of each club. Jeff says the clubs have lost focus and direction. He challenges the BOD of each club to set goals for 2012 and he will work with the clubs to reach their goals.  

George proposed the goal to install three towers and bases at the Hooterville Contest site.  

Jeff presented the nomination committees report for candidates for the 2014 BOD. They are: Pres. – Terry, AE5RI, VP – Mike, WM5DX, Sec. – Charlie, WD5BJT, Treas. – Ray, WQ5L. On a motion to close nominations and elect the candidates by acclimation by George, seconded by Terry, N5TF, brief discussion was held. The motion passed. A round of applause for the new BOD was given by the membership.  

George reported that the use of the OQRS on line QSL service really saves money.  

George also says he has DXpedition videos available for club meeting programs.  

On a motion to adjourn by George, seconded by Joe, K5JB, brief discussion was held. The meeting was adjourned.
