                                         General Membership Meeting

May 19, 2012

 

The meeting was called to order by President Travis, K5QJ at 0810 hours. The location is the Garden Park Hospital in Gulfport, Ms

Travis led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

Charlie, WD5BJT, led the group in prayer.

Travis acknowledged the following guests: Dravin Moore, Ashley Moore, and Zoe Wade.

Charlie read the minutes of the April 2012 meeting. On a motion to accept the minutes by Vic, N5YY, seconded by Bobby, KF5BA, brief discussion was held. The motion was passed.

George, K5JZ, gave suggestions how to keep phishing web bots from obtaining our members’ email addresses from our web site. Use the following “<at>” without the quotes to keep email addresses from being phished.

Ray, WQ5L, gave the treasurers report. On a motion to accept the report by Vic, seconded by George, brief discussion was held. The motion passed.

Old Business:

Mike, WM5DX, reports the club’s QSL cards should be received in about 2 weeks.

Travis restated the issues about the web site phishing issues.

Charlie reported on the progress concerning Andy Corey’s, 3DA0TM, CQ magazine subscriptions and the ARRL membership.

Terry, AE5RI, reported on Field Day preparations. A work party the Friday before Field Day is needed. There was general discussion on this subject.

Ray reported on the sales of raffle tickets for the Icom IC-7600. Travis will reach out to the other clubs in the area.

Ray talked about the upcoming ARRL VHF Contest for June 9-11, 2012.

New Business:

Charlie told the group that Brandon, KF5NYQ, was presented a special patch for his Boy Scout uniform by ICOM Corporation. ICOM will sponsor radios for the Boy Scout Jamboree.

Terry informed the group that there is no program this month. A brief talk was presented concerning operations on the new digital modes.

Terry also told the group about Bob, KD5PYC, having surgery and is recovering.

Ray held the 50/50 raffle, Zoe Wade drew the winning ticket. The winner was her father, Travis. Appropriate accolades ensued.

On a motion to adjourn by Bobby, seconded by Vic, brief discussion was held. The motion was passed. The meeting was adjourned.
